Story Summary:

The Important Things isn’t about first love, but lasting love. It’s the story of learning what you can’t live without and then being brave enough to act on that hard-earned knowledge.

Author Commentary:

I was asked to take part in this anthology by my good friend Stephanie Solomon-Lopez. And I’m going to take a moment to plug this work. One hundred percent of the profits go to charity, and the authors who have kindly donated their stories are top-notch and include several of my personal favorites. Your generosity here will make a real difference in someone else’s life. If that wasn’t incentive enough, you’ll get a wonderful book chocked full of sexy, sweet, funny, and dramatic stories to add to your personal collection. It’s a win-win situation!

Short stories are not my preferred format. I’m a gabber and like the freedom of space a full-length novel permits. So when I decided to take part in this anthology I wanted to take advantage of the smaller than usual scale, and do something I’d never done — write an entire story in the first person. It was an interesting, sometimes maddening exercise and I’m surprisingly pleased with the results. I managed to have a beginning, middle, and end, all in about thirty pages. Not an easy feat!

I was tired of all the ‘first time’ love stories out there where the women see each other across a crowded room and feel an instant, and yet confusing, soul-deep connection. Bah!

The cover artist for Telltale Kisses was none other than the very talented Stephanie Solomon-Lopez. Call her a jack-of-all trades, I don’t think she’ll mind.**
